We have a new associate in our business since March 2010 and it is our pleasure to announce that 4x4camper now runs a fleet of over 20 Land Rover 110/130 Diesel and 7 new Toyota Land Cruiser 4.2 Diesel vehicles. From 2011 we shall have the new Toyota Hilux 2.7i or 3lKZT and the Nissan hard body in our vehicle selection once more. Now also with our own workshop and 24 hr breakdown service.

Seventeen years ago 4x4camper started as a 4x4 rental company specialising in the field of renting fully equipped 4x4’s to enthusiastic safari travellers to southern Africa. Today, 4x4camper is a medium-sized 4x4 rental company.
Today you can travel unencumbered with our vehicles to the following countries in southern Africa:
Namibia, South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mosambique, Swaziland and Lesotho. (Angola is in the planning phase).
We started out with one Toyota Land Cruiser LJ70. We wanted to use robust off road vehicles and decided on the Mercedes Geländewagen 300 GD, and seeing that we had the bookings, added five of these vehicles. The Geländewagen were approx. 10 years old (young for a GD!) and our clients were as enthusiastic as we were.
After five exciting years with the GD’s came the Toyota Hilux 2.4l Double cab 1997 models. This vehicle type was also excellent in the African bush. The 1997 models were exchanged for newer models of the Toyota Hilux 2.7i Petrol and 2.5 SRX TD Double cabs. These models were nearly unbeatable in the bush as opposed to the Nissan, Ford or Isuzu 4x4’s of the competition, unfortunately also this era passed.

Because of the deteriorating condition of the roads in the African bush, worsened by the heavy Overlander trucks and the increase in traffic, there is only a limited choice of offroad vehicles available to handle these extreme conditions. We at 4x4camper have decided on a wider variety of 4x4’s to cater for every budget and adventure.
For the heavy duty utilisation/employment we offer the Land Rover Defender 110/130 (approx. 10l-15L diesel/100km) and the new Land Cruiser 4.2 (ca. 16l-30L diesel/100km).
The new double cabs have limited use for offroad conditions, but have great driving comfort for the traveller on tar roads. It is still possible to do the occasional offroading in the 4x4 modus. From 2011 we shall have the new Toyota Hilux 2.7i or 3lKZT and the new Nissan Hard Body 3tdi, King Cab or Double cab, for the less heavy offroad trip.
Our selection of vehicle types are chosen for their reliability in offroad conditions, and also for their large service network in the southern Africa, which in turn will make your vacation (and for many more to come on this wonderful continent) safe and carefree.
